Statement of Beliefs

Statement of Beliefs

1. We believe in one God eternally existing as one essence and three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, each of whom is fully God, yet there is one God (Deut. 6:4, Gen. 1:1-2, John 1:1, 1:14, Acts 5:3-4, Matt. 28:18-20)

2. Forgiveness of sin comes through confession and repentance which, as followers of Christ, we have the privilege and right to confess directly to God- never needing to have a human advocate to go through. Only Jesus Himself. (Prov. 28:13, 1 John 1:8-9, Col 2:13-14, Heb 4:16, 7:27, 2 Cor 7:9-10)

3. Prayer is communication between man and God. We pray directly to God the Father with faith given by the Holy Spirit and through Jesus the Son as our Great High Priest and advocate to the Father. (Jer 29:12, ! These 5:17, Matthew 6:6, Phil 4:6-7, Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25, 1 John 2:1, Hebrews 4:14-16)

4. We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith, in Jesus, alone not by any works, penance or payment by man. (Eph 2:8-9, Romans 3:23-24, Titus 3:5, Gal 2:16, Romans 4:4-5)

5. We believe when a saved person dies their soul immediately goes to be with the Lord. (2 Cor 5:8, Phil. 1:23, Luke 23:43)

6. We believe in taking communion as a reminder of Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins. The bread and wine (or juice) are symbols of His body and blood that was broken for and shed on our behalf. Instituted by Jesus, Himself, at the Last Supper, we take communion as a reminder, symbol and celebration of the work Jesus did on the cross. (Matt. 26:26, 1 Cor 10:16-17, 1 Cor. 11:17-34)

7. We believe only the 66 books that make up the Holy Bible are without error and inspired by God. All other writings and teachings are of human origin and therefore should never be referenced as from God. (2 Timothy 3:16, 1Cor 2:12-13, 2 Peter 1:21, Matthew 5:17-18, John 1:1-3,14)

8. From the Fall of Adam and Eve, there has only been one perfect man/person who has ever walked on Earth, Jesus Christ. It is through Him and Him alone that we have the Word of God and have access to God the Father. Anything spoken by man and contrary to the Bible itself, is not from God. (2 Tim 3:16)

9. We believe that marriage was created by God and intended only to be between one man and one woman who have entered into a covenantal and public union. (Gen 1:27-28, 2:18, 2:24, Ex. 20:14, Proverbs 5:18-19, Is. 62:5, Matt 19:4-6, Mark 10:8-9, Col 3:18-19, 1 Cor 6:18, 7:2-5, Heb 13:4, Eph 5:22-33)
